Proposed Admission Arrangements 2022/2023

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to notify you that the Proposed Admission Arrangements for Birmingham Schools that are their own admissions authorities (Academies/Free Schools/Foundation Schools or Voluntary Aided Schools) who are proposing to make changes to their admissions arrangements for the 2022/2023 Academic year, can be viewed at: Proposed Admission Arrangements 2022/2023

The consultation runs from 30 November 2020 until 18 January 2021. 

Any comments on the proposed admission arrangements should be made at: Birmingham Beheard

Birmingham Local Authority is facilitating the consultation on behalf of these admissions authorities, any comments made will be forwarded to the admissions authority in question once the consultation period has elapsed for their consideration

Rockwood Academy – Oversubscription Criteria

Year 7 Admissions

Rockwood Academy is an 11-16 school. We have 210 places available in Year 7 each year.

Applications for admission to the academy in Year 7 must be made via Birmingham City Council’s Common Application Form. The process for transfer into a secondary school, including the deadlines for applications, and the link to the common application form  can be found on the Birmingham City Council website at www.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions

If there are more applications than there are places available at the Academy, then places will be awarded on the oversubscription criteria set out in our admissions arrangements available below:
Admissions arrangements 20/21: Rockwood Academy Admissions Arrangements 2020 – 2021

Any child with an Education and Health Care Plan which names Rockwood Academy is required to be admitted to the academy. This gives such children overall priority for admission to the academy. This is not an oversubscription criterion.

In Year Admissions

Applications made outside the normal admissions round (in-year admissions) should be made directly to the academy. Parents/carers can apply for a place for their child at any time and to any academy. On receipt of an in-year application, the academy will notify the local authority of both the application and its outcome, to allow the local authority to keep up to date with figures on the availability of academy places in Birmingham.
